All You Need to Know About the English Premier League

The English Premiership is arguably the most watched sporting around the world in terms of viewership and in the number of followers. The Premiership is the top competition in English football bringing together the top 20 clubs battling it out for the coveted trophy and bragging rights among the fans. The top division competition has been in existence for a considerably long time with 20 teams battling each other during a season.

Premier League Season

The Premier League season runs from August to May and each season sees 20 teams battling each other for the trophy. The team that garners the most points during a season lifts the cup with each team playing 38 games against the other 19 teams in games both on away ground or home ground. Most Premier League games are played on weekends, but in cases where there are international breaks and television broadcasting schedules, games may be played on weekdays.

There are currently two transfer windows in a Premier League season where clubs are allowed to sign or release players with the June-August window being the longest and in January.

The English Premier League has produced some of the worlds greatest football players, and it continues to attract some of the top stars in the game. Some notable old and current players include;

  • Christiano Ronaldo

Most people refer to him as the Greatest Of All Times(G.O.A.T.), but these are not Messi’s fans though. Christiano is a former Manchester United player who helped the club achieve the unimaginable during Sir Alex Ferguson era. He later joined Real Madrid, and now he is at Juventus.

  • David Beckham

David Beckham is the first English football player to win the league titles in four countries having played for Manchester United, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, and L.A. Galaxy. Before retiring in 2013, he had won 19 major titles.
